Step 3) Find a prime location outdoors

Best overall locations:

  • Garden bed centerpiece - Most natural, attractive, and intentional
  • Near patio/seating area - High visibility and great conversation value
  • Bare yard corner - Instantly improves dead space
  • In front of a fence - Strong background contrast
  • Beside a porch or walkway - Great curb appeal and welcoming feel
  • Circular mulch/rock bed - Makes it look like a premium feature
  • Near tree line/shrubs - Bottles pop against greenery
  • Near water feature - Beautiful with reflections and blue/green bottles

Step 4) Use install instructions to install bottle tree

Every bottle tree purchase comes with an installation instructional manual. It is imperative that you follow these instructions, including reading and strictly adhering to the warnings located on the back of the instruction sheet before installing your bottle tree.

Step 5) Bend the branches to its proper shape

The best way to bend the branches is by hand, if you are strong enough. If not, slip the included shaping pipe over the limbs of the tree. More details on this step can be found in step 4 on your included instructional manual.

Step 6) Add bottles to the branches

For the best look, choose clean glass bottles that fit securely on each branch. Start with larger bottles near the lower branches and use smaller or lighter bottles toward the top. Spread colors evenly around the tree, step back often to check the balance, and place brighter bottles where they can catch the sunlight. Cobalt blue bottles create the classic Southern bottle tree look, while mixed colors give your tree a more playful, personal style. Avoid cracked or chipped bottles, and keep your tree placed away from walkways or play areas for safety.
